    1. '55 Chevy, Biscayne I think. We had a '56 B&W BelAir, bigger fins. Impala debuted in '57.

  5. That Wally's Restaurant in the photo is in Abilene TX in the '50's. Found it listed here: https://www.davickservices.com/life_in_taylor_county_tx_1900_-_1950.htm

  6. The Chevy is a '55, the chrome spear on the rear quarter was changed for '56. The car on the far left is a '42 Pontiac Torpedo (I'm guessing here, the '46 Torpedo had the wide chrome moulding on the trunk lid). The Cadillac is a '52 and the Buick is a '53 Special or Super (the Roadmaster had 4 vents on the fender).

  8. Well, I am guessing that the steak will be very well aged.

  9. Puts me in mind of Massey's in Fort Worth. Now closed, but when open (on 8th ave. near TCU & Paschal High and immortalized as "Herb's Cafe" by Dan Jenkins an alum of both schools) it served the best Chicken Fried Steak (with cream gravy) on the planet.

  10. The Aster Steakhouse in Corpus Christi had a centrally-placed firepit grill that burned mesquite, and a unique way to season steaks. They were really good. They also had a 48 oz sirloin, and if you could finish it in an hour, you didn't pay for it. Otherwise it was over $70 if I remember correctly (early 1980s). I worked with a guy in the oilpatch at the time, and he finished it.

  12. We had The W. Broiler in NE. Seattle and Blazes Broiler in Ballard. Geez I and so many miss a great Teriyaki Steak with a Baker and a sweet server who knows your name and what the usual means.
I was stupid and took my wife one time and "JAN" says the usual, David. The look I got!..Sometimes you just need a peaceful place after work ...Oh Well. That earned my late wife the last time I shared a swell place for a meal..
