Edward Hopper, The Girl of Contemplation

  1. Hopper and his wife were argumentative, beyond a particular date she is the woman depicted in his artwork- I've wondered if he was a philanderer.

and- the site of his "Early Sunday Morning" is located in NYC running North from the NW corner of 7th Ave and W 15th St, ≈ a 500' crow's flight from where this is being typed.

  2. I remain grateful that you put up wonderful art, usually by people I've never heard of. I'm just finishing a house extension so I can hang more art but what I own, while nice enough, is not in this price league.

    1. I've said the same thing about the series; great to view pieces I'd otherwise never see.
      Best on the housing mods.

    2. Thanks, it's nearly done but I'm getting on and spent the day working the log splitter and the spa was quite nice. Its summer where I live. I like that people on the other side of the world I'll never meet feel close enough to touch.

  3. There is a contemplative guy in the background as well. Maybe they should contemplate together.

  4. Splendid artwork, easy on the eyes.

  5. Back in the say when women were ladies. A nice dress and high heels, no face piercings, no body ink and natural color hair.

  6. I love Hopper's use of light. I learned a lot from his works when I was working on my black and white photography. Thanks C. W. for giving us a dose of his work from time to time.
