  4. Nothing like the smell and feel of a freshly sharpened pencil. Kids today have no idea.

    1. Real honest to goodness cedar and lead pencils as God intended. Could be used as darts or spears. Unlike those things today made of reconstituted cereal mush as bendy as paper straws which barely leave a mark on paper or stone. Impetuous.

  5. We had to buy them. Two penny per pencil, one penny per sheet of paper. To get out of class to go to the pursur's cage was a schoolboy's delight. Not too often, mind you, lest teacher become suspicious.
    Ha, a boy's fantasy to ever think he's pulling one over on teach.
