And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
My father had an Estwing hammer with the stacked leather handle.
It was so old it had lost a few of the leather pieces, but he still used it. We bought him a brand new one, but he just hung it on the tool wall and used his old one. He built furniture as a hobby.
When he passed, we buried him with his hammer and his folding wooden measure. That was Bill's hammer, and none of us were worthy.
