And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Don't run out of ammo too early, while using enough to stay alive, need ammo for going in then going out of the target. Pretty hairy stuff. Germans fighters used 20mm cannons. Skin of the B-17 is .020 thick. Talk about your arse in the wind. Those bomber guys all had serious balls.
The "Bomber Mafia" had a huge influence in Allied tactics for most of the war. It took a lot of lives to somewhat change their minds but it never did entirely.
Good vid on YouTube of a gunner who shot down 12 germans maybe more, in one attack. He changed the tactics from defensive to offensive fire. Then trained other gunners how to do it. Kill ratios went way up. Great vid and puts to rest the B17s were defenseless b/s.
And that is why our losses will be so low.
