And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

24 HOURS at WORLD’S LARGEST GAS STATION (Buc-ee's)! Euro chick discovers American excess.
The town "fathers" of the little town of Palmer Lake, Colorado, is trying to get a Buck-ees built near the town and next to Interstate 25. Most of the residents are 100% against the Texas-based monstrosity being anywhere near the town. Most of those against it feel as if the developer has most likely paid off the town officials. It is a mess.
There has been a lot of blow back against them here in Texas too. Regardless, they build them anyway. I look at them like Home Depot or Lowes. If I have an opportunity to shop at a smaller place then I will. I hate the crowds and having to park in BFE then walk all the way across the store for what I am looking for.
Too bad most of your local places don't have restrooms as clean as Bucc-ee's. Some local gas stations have restrooms that look like the last time they were cleaned was when coroner removed a dead junkie.
The Buc-ee's she was at is just north of San Antonio on Interstate 35. I have stopped there. Thing is Buc-ee's are spaced just about far enough apart to be just when you need to stop for a break after the last one. I am looking forward to the one they are building in Boerne, Texas on Interstate 10, which will be about 25 miles from me.
One thing they do is provide a relief from the price gouging filling stations/convenience stores that are so common along the Interstates.

ReplyDeleteOur local places have local residents owning family businesses that have been around for decades. The Texas based monstrosity should stay in Texas.

Despite some of the comments, I feel that whenever I pass one I must stop and pay homage to the Beavery Overlord.
ReplyDeleteGreenland finally agreed to Trump's demands because he threatened them with having Buc-ees build stores all along their interstates.
