Who came up with this crazy idea of crossing a crevasse? Hard no.

  1. Only way to climb Everest, have to ferry supplies across the Khumba ice gap to base camp for the climb.

    1. And that is just one crevasse, their are many on the way to base camp. However that is not even the deadliest part of this section. In the gap are large blocks of sliding ice the size of houses. 1 in 10 climbers that die in the attempt on Everest die in the Khumba ice gap.

  3. if you started to fall, you might have a chance to catch yourself, and maybe just maybe, you could caterpillar you way to the side, . . . the boots are definitely a problem, . . . but not as much as the large backpack that you're wearing :) !

[How much weight do Everest climbers carry? They routinely carry more than their body weight in gear, food, and equipment; it's not unusual for their loads to be upward of 150 lbs.]

    1. Between base and lower camps you are right upward of 150 or more, weight goes between higher camps in the thinning oxygen.
