And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

The visuals plus the sound. Youngsters will never know.
Local place in Martinsburg has a few of them, ready to play. Has 'tournaments' one night a week, and there is always a lineup of players. Go find Travis at Mountaineer Meat Smokers MVP Arena, if anyone is passing through.
I think everyone back then knew a pinball wizard. He or she may not have been blind but they could bump the table to get the ball in position whereas I always got "TILT". Used to burn my backside being a competitive youngster.
Refurbing a 1953 "Rose Bowl" PBM by Gottlieb in my spare room this winter All "real" wood cabinet, side rails, and legs. Winter project. All new rebound rubbers. Setting the point gaps on the rebound bumpers is tedious. Back glass art is fair to good condition.

ReplyDeleteBasic training at the Royal Dutch Airforce back in 1970: one quarter could keep me busy for hours until somebody came in to 'adjust it'. No more. 😥
ReplyDeleteA blast from the past. Today I heard Pinball Wizard.
ReplyDeleteSpent a lot of change on those in my misspent youth. As I remember it was $0.10/game or 3 for a quarter....

ReplyDeleteBack before computers and the insanity that the internet has brought us.
ReplyDeleteMy grandparents considered pinball machines the same as you consider the internet.

DeleteIf you use Firefox, open the link in a new tab and immediately click Ctrl-Alt-R - that will open it in Reader View and bypass the paywall.
DeleteThanks for the tip!
DeleteI normally use chrome, but just now tried firefox and that page opened up with no issue, didn't have to do the ctrl-alt-r.
