And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

The Studebaker team preparing for the 1932 Indianapolis 500.
My Grandfathers first cousin Al Miller started at the Pole position at the 32 Indy 500 and blew his engine. He was driving a straight 8 Shafer. His best finish was 6th in '34.
I read up a bit on the factory cars; in general that was a very interesting time for technical innovation and pioneering. Car #22 started 10th and finished 3rd, but Car #37 started 38th and finished 6th.
