  1. My Grandfathers first cousin Al Miller started at the Pole position at the 32 Indy 500 and blew his engine. He was driving a straight 8 Shafer. His best finish was 6th in '34.

  2. I read up a bit on the factory cars; in general that was a very interesting time for technical innovation and pioneering. Car #22 started 10th and finished 3rd, but Car #37 started 38th and finished 6th.
