The Potala, capital of occupied Tibet

  1. Tibet was a Chinese province under the Qing dynasty from 1720 until the fall of the dynasty in 1911, the fall being precipitated by European colonial powers. It remained sorta independent until the CPC reasserted control in 1951. So Tibet has been under direct Chinese rule for 265 out of the last 305 years. For comparision, the US didn’t get independence until 1783.

    1. Tibet has its own language and culture, different from the Han Chinese. The Chinese themselves recognize this and attempt to quash this as it is a threat to their occupation of a neighboring country.

  3. Richard Gere and other celebrities used to campaign for Tibet and then suddenly you didn't hear anything about that. I wonder what changed.
