  2. A close friend was a USMC pilot during the Vietnam war, both fixed and rotary. He may have flown that one. He said he flew R4Ds and R6Ds (C-118).

  5. Flew about 500 hours right seat with older "golden era" captains. Id ask Pappy if he learned in a tail wheel , nope it had a tail skid...C47 the most perfect airplane with the bigger Pratts.

  6. Go read "Fate is the Hunter." Classic tales about flying DC2s, DC3s, B24s, C87s. Mid thirties to shortly post war. Ernie Gann was seriously an OG.
