Speed

  1. Oh man, thats so much fun, hangin' it out there, thats a really excellent long sweeper of a corner. Need to be sharp if your 99%ing it, coming out of the apex leaned over its a chore to see your exit points laying over so low, unless your out there for strictly fun and thrills, that is.

  2. Truly admire that knee riding technique, though I never once tried it, learned back in the old school method where you square up with the chassis, push on your outside foot, keep the inside knee right hard against the frame while shifting your butt to help change your center moment. Worked very well when they came out with radial bike tires, the rears more radial than front tires, this style helps create a larger conact point hence increasing traction, or making the rear stick and slide at the same time, dteering with the rear tire, works best on long engine pulse V Twins, the knee is used as a support or outrigger, like a third point of contact, its very effective on inline fours that produce hobs of raw power, you can effectively spin that rear wheel up till its greasing the asphalt, so as you get straightened up coming out of the apex the rear starts gaining traction and slingshots you out the exit at serious speed, verses how on the twin's the rear hook up is "gentler", more forgiving, lots more. Those long dwell power pulses. Get lot more out of the rear tire thsn the inlines, while with the the fronts, they start getting getting better with wear, as you push the front into snd out, it gets a rather flat face, works best right when its about to become dumpster bait. Got lucky first started, a Michelin rep put on a course about radials, as at that time hardly any of us club racers even seen a radial slick. The radial changed road racing like anything before or since, it was transformational. Corner speeds that where then freaky, total braking change up, if you are relatively up straight, you just grab the front brake lever and squeeze hard as you got strength for, the front stays hooked up, serious reduction in braking times, sometimes if you got the balls, play chicken and brake latest zooming to the lead, its hairy, but worth every second, totally a thrill.
