And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
They were fun(!) but a bit fake. When Micky Dolenz was chosen as drummer, he had never before played drums and had to undergo emergency lessons. The Wrecking Crew made the music.
If you go back and listen to their records in the context of the times and just ignore the TV show and the fact that they were a contrived band, those records were as good if not better than any pop music at that time.
Nesmith created the first music video apparently - he was sending a sample of his skills to someone and thought it would be a good way to show his stuff. Clever guy.
They were the first live concert that I attended in the late 80s with my dad.
