And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I inherited the complete Louis l'Amour novels from my father-in-law. In a number of them the hero will have a shotgun or rifle slung from the shoulder and it's said that this is the fastest way to get a gun into action. I never understood how this could be, but this shows me how. Often it's under a coat which makes it harder to comprehend.
It might be to shorten it enough that it swings into the proper position. Without it riding higher on the Shoulder there would be too much slack and it would swing up farther out.
As long as that’s not the only thing he knows, I like it. Took some practice, but probably time better spent than internet commenting. I found I could bring an AK into firing position pretty quick from hanging across my back diagonally muzzle down. That seems more practical.

ReplyDeleteWas the strap meant to hang across the mag. I can see it stabilizing it. But seemed to make it ride a little high on the shoulder..

DeleteProbably. You can see his left hand is pressing the strap to the mag.

Look closer, his left hand isn't touching the sling.
DeleteAll the army line dogs learned this tactic with M16's in the 70's.
