And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

I might assume that the player on the right was the 2nd (?) baseman and the fellow on the left was the short stop. Why the heck was the 2nd baseman not standing on the base?
Guys, it's first base. The runner is coming straight from the right and he turns out to his right after he crosses the bag, indicating he's done running and isn't going to try for second. On the ground leading up to the bag from right to left you see the turn out box that allows the runner to move away from the baseline if he's going to head to second, and the guy on the left is wearing a first baseman's glove.
Yes, first base. Why the pitcher chose to get involved in any other way than throwing the pitch is beyond me. Possible dp from first to second and back but clearly didn’t need the pitchers help.
