And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

On May 6, 1956, USS Wisconsin (BB-64) collided with USS Eaton (DDE-510) in heavy fog.
That website has a wealth of information. Consider that the repairs to Wisconsin were completed in 16 days. This because the bow section of the unfinished Kentucky was put on to Wisconsin.
When I was 10 years old, my father was stationed at the Armed Forces Staff College in Norfolk, VA. During that year (1956), they had an International Naval Review. One of the hundreds of naval vessels from all over the world that were on display, was the USS Wisconsin. We took a tour of that battle wagon and when we got to the captain's bridge, I grabbed a microphone that was next to the captain's chair and said, "Now hear this! Now hear this!" over the mic which went all over the ship. I loved it but my folks were mortified. Oh well!!!
On the web page, USSWISCONSIN.ORG there is a pdf of the log of that day.
