Not a bad rig

  1. Had one, plow truck, put a 345 in it, special heavy duty service 700 torque flight, Dana 40's with TrueTrac's, replaced the floor pan with a formed 1/8 steel plate, Rancho'd it 4 inches. Sweet little guy, went great, very light, sold it with the rest of the plow Scouts, had to, the buyer hinged the sale on my giving the short box up in the deal. Regretted every snow storm since.

  2. I see tens of thousands of RV's parked in lots all over the State of Colorado, unused and rusting. Why anyone would want to buy one is a mystery to me. For me, if I had a lapse in judgement, and wanted to go RV-ing, I'd rent one and take it back when I was done.

    1. the motor part of a motorhome is good for ten years, tops. nobody works on smog equipped carbureted vehicles in 2025. my 1984 Winnebago has 24 vacuum hoses on the carburetor, and any mechanic who was trained on which hose went where has forgotten that knowledge by now.

the home part is good for ten years. all the appliances are worn out. replacements don't fit the old mounts. the plastic tanks are cracked and brittle.

RV parks won't take vehicles older than 15 years. too many broke, broke down and busted people leaving junk behind.

the only real benefit to an RV is you have a place to sleep if the freeway in Flagstaff closes due to weather or you find yourself in a town hosting a large event

  3. There's a reason why nobody has pickup box campers anymore: they suck.

    1. that rig will roll over sooner rather than later. you need at least a 3/4 ton and that is marginal. and, no indoor plumbing.

  4. Never did a camper but had a '62 IH that could've accommodated one.

  5. How many of us would buy a simple utility truck like that? Updated a touch for safety but mostly mechanical and sturdy.

  6. Read "Travels With Charley" (his dog) by John Steinbeck. Traversed the US in a pickup camper.
