  1. And most of them are just kids; 18 or 19. If they screw up, you can end up in the drink.

    1. Those kids come right out of high school, go up to two years of training for their rates, and operate and maintain billion dollar equipment.
But trump has the gall to say we have to hire a bunch of h1b red-dots because they're so skilled...smh.

  3. That guy didn't start in that position. He's at least an E5 and been in 4 years or more, probably mid to late 20's in age.

The kids are down in the hold swabbing axle grease on them prop shafts.

  4. Besides the guy on deck there is one other enlisted person that tells a pilot what to do, Air Traffic Controllers. You can have somebody with less than a year in the service on the mic telling a pilot where to go.

  5. Every Day, young men and women are stepping up to take their places on the wall. Whether facing inward as FD, PD or EMS, or outward looking, in the Armed Forces. They are there, they are willing, they are capable! We trained their trainers, and demanded the best of them. Those have passed it on. We that have served, have the backs of our Brothers and Sisters! No hesitation. Carry On!!!

  6. My birds were the F-105 Thunderthud and the F-102 Delta dagger. Crew chief, '69-'73. It was a great job. Pretty sure it was a BIT easier the the deck apes job.

  7. After six years in the Navy (flight school, P-3 tour, T-28 Instructor), my next set of orders were Cat Officer on a carrier. I got out and never regretted it.
