  1. Sure miss Carson. 'Carnac the Magnificent' was always a highlight. The stuff that they run as 'late night' TV these days is just awful....and that's being polite. Steve_in_Ottawa

  2. One of my most favorite Johnny Carson moments is when he sat at his desk and said something like: There is no place in the world for entertainers to be political. Their only job is entertainment.

    1. I get the impression Jimmy Fallon is trying to do the same, albeit not succeeding in the ratings. Probably cause of bot-farms inflating Colbert & Kimmel's #s.

  3. I think he actually formed some of my personality. I really liked his style and he never took himself too seriously.

  4. Many reels of 2" videotape there.

For about a year I worked the night shift at an NBC affiliated TV station during the late 80s. Part of my job was to monitor what was on the air and to insert the local commercial breaks into Carson's program, I got to watch the show every night and was getting paid to do it. This was back when the show was still 90 minutes. Talk about a sweet gig.

  5. I miss him, Leno too. I was not able to get into any of the replacement people.

    1. When those replacement scumbags got so incredibly (libtard) political, I turned off the TV to "late night" television.

  6. Likely the can containing his 3,641st show. 890 left to go.

  7. We miss some of the old chain stores not only because the stores were better but because those stores still had American made stuff in them.
We miss people like Johnny and Jay partly because of who and what they were but also because of what their guests were, which was genuine talent and not insane.

    1. Perhaps the biggest "chain store" in the world is Wal-Mart. They are one of the major factors that American manufacturers went to the Far East for products because the Wal-Mart Purchasing Dept demanded lower and lower cost prices on the stuff that they purchased for their stores.

    2. Can I get an 'amen' for 'Grand Auto'?

  8. Johnny Carson, a class act. Unlike the cavalcade of clowns making millions of dollars to be unfunny today.

Remember the Ed Ames tomahawk toss? I laugh just thinking about it.

  9. Yep, Johnny could handle anyone. He and Robin Williams were incredible.
