And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Awesome little critter to fly, that R-22. Basic Rotor Craft Training in one of them. Didn't take the training anywhere after soloing but was a sweet bird to learn on. Very forgiving.
The maintenance manuals (in the late 80s) for the CG HH-65A were translated from French to English by college students. Well, that's what we were told to explain the odd wording used.
A Robinson. King of the "Rotor Mast Bump". Fatal in almost all Mast Bump incidents in Robinson's. I would not even ride in one. Killer Helicopters. Not a question of: 'Will your R22 or R44 Kill You?, but When?'
Most Mast Bump incidents in craft "prone" to it are pilot induced. They over-control the bird, fly it in conditions contra-indicated or just plain ignore the clear warnings the bird gives afore the event. My instructor spent a good deal of time instucting how NOT to get in that bad zone.
AI. Too strange.
ReplyDeleteActually it's Jessica Johnston, an actual helicopter pilot from Australia. 'pilotjess dot com'
ReplyDeleteWell, she sure spins my prop.
ReplyDelete"come fly...come fly away with me"
ReplyDeleteJust doing the standard pre-flight checks.
ReplyDeleteRobinson R-22. I've wrenched on those and their bigger brother, the R-44. Worst maintenance manuals I've ever encountered.
