And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I'll pass, I like real cream and sugar with my coffee. I started drinking coffee later in life, in a fox hole. Joined the Cal. Army Guard in '83, because my buddies convinced me the "bennies" were worth it. They also guaranteed me I'd be in armament. They were correct. So, We're doing annual training at , Paso Robles, Ca., Liggett Hunter (base, fort?) and it's cold at o'dark thirty in the morning. The MRE accessory pack has coffee, hot choc., creamer and sugar. I brought my own surplus WWll canteen with steel cup. Boil up some water, dump everything in. It's surprisingly good! That was the beginning. I try it straight about once a year, it still sucks every time. But doctor it up and it becomes near elixor of the lower gods. I've been drinking coffee 42 of my 75 years on this crazy ball.
Fort Hunter Ligget at Camp Roberts. Army tests all of their mechanized guns there.
The coast road goes through the fort and camp. Civies have access during hunting season and other times. Time it right and watch testing on the course.
In the further north reaches of Camp Roberts there is a gunnery range just west of and in view of Hwy 101. Small stuff like howitzers usually, but sometimes tracked vehicles.
The Army had claimed a stretch of the Naciemento River where it flows into the north flowing Salinas River. Great tubing on a hot summer day. I can't say who is more surprised when a herd of tanks and a gaggle of tubers come face to face at the water crossing.
Drank coffee for most of my life black. Recently tho I got on a coffee with honey kick then coffee with sorghum molasses and now coffee with maple syrup. Good stuff all 3. No milk or cream and cane no sugar, ever.
F-ing irony of some Hollywood figurehead telling me coffee will put hair on my chest when they have theirs so artfully manicured for the cameras to appear Just Hairy Enough (tm), unless they shave it all off so they can oil up for their sword&sandal epics.
Marion would know.

I think that I see a Pheasant bird feather (and some yarn). So, they're going to be making and tying fly fishing ties and hooks.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as the caffeine kicked in, I couldn't thread a needle, . . . let alone with nylon through an eye hole of a fishing hook.
