And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Those 50's & 60's era white helmets were heavy...had my Dad's from when he was on flying status when I was a kid. I couldn't imagine trying to keep my head up while pulling 4 or 5 g's with one of those on my nugget.
Oh yeah, those older HGU-26s (and similar) are beasts, I have one on my shelf. The pilots liked having multiple lens but had to go to lighter 55/Ps with the transition to F-16s.

Worked with a retired USAF officer, and this was his favorite plane. Called it "the Great White 101". Had also been an OV-10 FAC in Vietnam, and was an instructor in T-38s.
F-101 Voodoo by McDonnell. Lessons learned developing it were incorporated into the Phantom.
