  1. All I use my bread machine for is to mix the dough. It is old and will forget where it is in a cooking cycle but the mix setting still works. I have a whole grain sourdough starter with a recipe that is 50% starter for loaf sandwich bread. It makes a hard crust, rich bread. A few tweaks and I have brioche rolls or a french loaf.

  2. Held off on getting one of these for decades, then picked one up a couple years ago. Though we usually do regular sourdough, these work great when time is short. Ours also has a yogurt setting, which I use to make whole milk greek yogurt about twice a week, way better than store bought. Very handy.
