  1. I don't like leather tool pouches. A lot of leather tanning processes leave acidic residues behind that rust tools badly. Ask me how I know....

  2. The leather must be scrubbed hard with a stiff-short bristled brush and saddle soap to remove any and all tanning chemicals.

Then rinsed thoroughly with fresh water and hung up and air dried completely.

Next, a thick coat of mink oil must be applied and worked deep into the leather with a stiff-short bristled brush and hung to dry for 3 days.

Then the leather should be wiped and burnished to a luster with dry linen cloths.

Then and only then is it ready to take high carbon steel tools.

  3. Sorry, but that is a stupid tool roll for chisels - it protects the handles and does not completely ensure that the blades won't knock against each other. Maybe not likely, but a PITA when they do. I can easily replace a handle (and it takes a LOT of damage to require replacement); repairing the cutting edge properly once dinged is not quick, nor necessarily easy. Made my own tool roll. Doubled canvas. The blades go into the pockets.

  4. well, the roll is for a variety of tools, not exclusive to chisels. Aside from finding someone equiped to do heavy material stiching, canvas is a practical choice.
