And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

After having hacked control of the giant dish, Bob contemplated what message he would send to the aliens.
I don't think he will be sending any messages with that dish. It looks like that is a receive only dish. There is no waveguide or HPA's at the base of the dish.
A dish that big makes adjusting the sub-reflector a real PIA. Run your test, make calculations, get in dish with a ladder to reach sub-reflector, make adjustment, get everything out of dish, run your test, rinse and repeat.
