And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

1970 Ford Mach 1 Cobra Jet one of 96 Twister Specials. Still looks great!
Friend in high school got a Mach 1 from his dad for graduation, not a cobra, 427, 4 speed, fire engine red with black decals and stripes, had acceleration that you had to experience to appreciate, 45 years later, only thing felt faster is my Ducati. Must been a very high power to weight ratio in those Mustangs.
My cousin bought a 74 Mach 1. It was a 2.8-liter V6 engine that made 105 horsepower. Her live-in boyfriend pulled the engine and worked the heads. New pistons, cams, headers, windage tray, stroker crank. and every other trick to wrangle out more Hp where he ended up with a 230 Hp 4 banger. For a Mustang II it was a screamer. The later years factory V8's were at 160Hp. The Mustang 2 barely kept the breed alive. The third gen 5.0 was the full resurrection. A LX with a 5.0? That 5.0 could easily be bumped up to 300 hp w/headers and a mild tune. A stroked 5.0 could pump out 400 Hp. A supercharger could add 150 more. Turbos were a wildcard. A properly set twin turbo on a 340 CI SB could have 600 Hp.
Was a front seat spectator in ine multiple occassion, particularly accelerating up a bit of hill, you could see that 427 lift the right front tire, the whole front quarter would twist upwards, wind right up and stay there till the shift. Those motors had to have been putting out power waaay over their listed specs. Rebuilt a 70 Buick had a ram air 455, standard, previous owner rolled it, got it for salvage from the insurance inspector. That thing cranked the front corner when you floor boarded it. If I remember, supposedly factory it was 475hp, sometimes it felt a lot more, like crazy insane kind. Traded for a nice 66 El Camino, next owner wrapped it around a telephone pole above the telephone line height. Hit a construction ditch he was too drunk to notice, flew almost 200 yards, did it past my house, got to watch the whole thing with some friends sitting on my front porch. Sheared the car complete in half right behind the front seat. Crazy thing is they both lived, and the front of the car hit bottom first and slid, in perfect condition. The rear diff took off into space, fuel tank wizzed off in another direction. Totally FUBAR'd.
I have to confess that this particular shape never did it for me but some other Mustangs models certainly did. In my country they were expensive as well, way beyond the price range of a ordinary folk.
