  3. To endure. In Korea we were out and about. The US troopers were freezing and doing jumping jacks and running in place. The Korean Marines just sat there. They performed well when we moved out. Some of my guys not so much. I asked my interpreter and he just shrugged and said it's winter. Same mindset as these monks. Accept what is.

  4. Yes. The training is to endure suffering, both mental an physical. If you are going to reach nirvana (someday, some lifetime) you must be able to ignore all the distractions of the physical world.
