And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Over the past three weeks I've seen three Ospreys flying off with a fish in their talons
I'm not even trying to see them, as I'm working, but many times when I look up and out the window, there one is. I've seen so many I can ID them from a distance judging just by the way they are flying. As an aside, the Turkey Vultures are the world experts on soaring with a minimum of flapping. They got it down.
I'd guess the Sacramento River is lined with Osprey nests up your way.

Dynamic Soaring. It's an amazing thing. My all-time best cowdog taught me all about it. He hated Buzzards.
DeleteLong story.
Must have been a huge fish if it took three....
ReplyDeleteI saw one last year with a snake as it was going to land in it's nest, I wasn't quick enough to get a picture.
ReplyDeleteMaybe going for the frog in the previous photo.
ReplyDeleteThey're very talonted.
ReplyDeleteSo much for Rachel Carson's scare about DDT killing them all off.
ReplyDeleteDDT sure didn't help em any
DeleteOsprey, a.k.a. SEAHAWK! Go Hawks!
