And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I've got one of those, in black, sitting in a drawer somewhere. I found that the cost to replace the strap and the battery exceeded the cost of buying the watch in the first place.
If you wore the strap out you must have gotten good use out of it. The battery usually lasts about two years. There's this term for mechanical things, and we need to be aware of it. It's called maintenance. Factor it in, then compare that to what it costs to maintain, say, a Rolex.
Know it all, aren't you. The battery lasted seven years, it was a 20 atmosphere diving watch so no local jeweler was going to change the battery. Factory service to change the battery was expensive. Even Rolex doesn't charge that high a percentage of the value of the watch for full maintenance. The first time I bought another of the same model, brand new. Including changing the band, same price.
I did shipping and receiving for three decades. I wore Casio watches the entire time. I tried many other watches, but they did not last. Various reasons, maybe the band broke, or they somehow got dropped, or got caught on something, and that was it , I had to toss them. But the Casio watches just kept on going (I could even buff out a deep scratch, etc.).
