And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Grandma's ankles remind me of a story about Bill Ruger. He was discussing the design of the stocks on his soon to be introduced Model 77, and in describing how he wanted the grip area to look he said, "I want that to be thick, like a Polish girl's ankles!"
I wonder if these photos are what they purport to be. The first photo smacks of the 1960s. The second photo, while undated, depicts what appears to be a late 70s woman being held by two 40-year-olds. If the original photo was taken in, say, 1965, that would make the males 60 today. Making the photos' authenticity even more difficult to establish is that the photos seem to have been taken in two different places.
Curious though, why one baby, noticeably smaller, is dressed in pink- I doubt an old-world mom would dress one of two male twins in blue, one in pink. I think as warming as these two shots are, they’re not the same people.
They still loved their mother :-)
ReplyDeleteNow that right there is priceless....
ReplyDeleteAgree- priceless. Cherishable. Warming.
ReplyDeletePriceless indeed!
ReplyDeleteThis is the way.
ReplyDeleteIf the photos were taken in the same place I'd guess that the boys built the new house for her.
ReplyDeleteWow! So heart warming!
ReplyDeleteYep. That's pretty darn neat.
ReplyDeleteThe Google thingy indicates that it might be in Poland.

ReplyDeleteDon't make too much of it. It's a great shot and the meaning is strong. Love your mother!
