Artistry In Steel

  1. My grand dad gave me a Sears JC Higgins 16ga over under shotgun, for my 5th birthday, it was too big for me at that size, but still hunting with it over 60 years later. Shortened the barrels to 18.5 inches and added a peep sight, at metal shop in high school, i made it so much handier and quick for grouse and pheasants, and its very very accurate with deer slugs out to 125 yards. Why the 16 isn't more popular beats me, its a great shell with plenty of power, the light loads are killer on flying game.

  2. I agree with the 16, carries like a twenty, hits like a twelve. Now to really know sublime grouse gun handling, try to get a 16ga Parker with 26" barrels on an "0" frame. (That's the 20ga frame) Mines a magic wand. Costs a pretty penny but artistry in movement has no price.

  3. it's an over/under. one barrel shoots over the game and the other one shoots under it.hunted w/ a guy that had one and that's what he said. he wasn't lying.

    1. I dont think that is correct. I use the sights for either barrel and have good accuracy.

    2. Thats just silly. The barrels are regulated to have the same POI ( point of impact) at a specific distance. Point of aim should equal point of impact if the gun fits you properly. Same goes for the side by side.
