  1. I assume that is a frozen river going down the center. I'd like to see a picture of that valley in summer.

  2. If it wasn't for the long, cold winters and the darkness for 1/3 of the year, it'd be a really nice place to live.

  3. No trees, no swamp & entirely too much snow, I wouldn't even visit a place like that much less live there.

  4. I'd like to know how people get to that structure halfway up the hill on the right. Snowshoes? Helicopter? I don't see any sign of a road or trail, though there are a few electric poles headed that way.

Probably the resolution just isn't good enough to see the snowmobile track.

  5. I'd like to know why the roads all have glowing segments.

  6. Longyearbyen. The roads don't glow, but there are matker lights on them. Bear precautions for the very long night. The light on the mountain is Mine No. 2, also known as gruve or the Santa Claus mine. It is abandoned/closed but remains lit for safety. Local folklore says santa and his elves live deep in the mine and there is a mail drop box at the base of the mountain for letters to him.

  8. Awesome book about a trapper who lived there, "The year-long day".

  9. If that was anywhere near where I'm located, you'd need a 10 h.p. sump pump.
