One foot away from death. Wow!

  1. 1979 hiking Siyeh Pass with Ranger Johnson and circa 30 other hikers down a trail over a talus field everyone heard a loud crack above us and then a bouncing and rolling rock the size of a large pick-up truck descend toward and through the hiking party transfixed in dread, strung out on the switched back trail as the boulder miraculously missed hitting anyone and eventually came to rest hundreds of feet below the party. I still remember that incident as if it happened yesterday.
