Simple and Beautiful

  1. Hi C.W.,
"NICE" but I am partial to the "G.I. Model" No frills or fancy stuff, just like out of the can in WW-II ..stock sights.. wood grips with the "US" on the side... sweet!!!!

    1. Agree. I like my G.I. model. I tried several different grips (rubberized, finger groves, etc.) but never found a better set than the original. To prevent hammer-bite, I got a wide grip safety from Numrich that looks almost exactly like the original, not a big beavertail grip safety. I never saw the point of having holes in the trigger and the hammer.

    2. Also agree, superlatives fail me in describing the original. Trying to improve on it is nothing more than vanity.

  2. Be even nicer if they weren't required to put that retarded graffiti all over the outside.

  3. I'll take that one for EDC, the WWII original stays in the safe. Ergonomics count.

  4. Nice gun. Very nice. But at north of $3500 it damn well ought to be.

In 2016, I had a hankering for a By-Gawd-and-John-Moses 1911 in 45acp, and I rented several to try them out. Yeah, they were rental guns, so maybe that was part of it, but not one of them said "Buy me". Late in my search, I saw a FNX-45T, and I had found my purchase. Fits my hand, smooth, DA/SA, fully ambi, ready for a suppressor, and did I mention, 15 rounds of .45acp love? I didn't pay nearly what they're going for today, and IIRC, mine came with 3 magazines, as to the 2 that they're shipping with today. It is a carry-able gun, but as a practical matter, only concealable if you're wearing Alaska-worthy winter clothing.

  5. I consider the Sig P220 the 21st century version. The 1911 is a +100 year old design.
