And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
And a nice cobblestone bottom, so takes a bit of cautious wading, even though the water is gin clear. Wonder what kind of mayfly nymphs are on the underside of those rocks?
We had "clean" looking water in Vietnam but did not fill our canteens because half of a mile upstream, rotting dead bodies of the enemy were dumped into the water.

ReplyDeleteTasted water like that once at a place between Durango and Telluride, CO. Water was cold and had no impurities. My stomach agreed.
