Oh boy! Would I ever drive that!

  1. My Dad had a '79 Ranchero for years. Boy, did he love that thing. He put many miles on it in retirement, and even when he would break down on the road it seemed like he always met the nicest people who were always willing to help him out to get him going again.
Every trip was an adventure with Dad and his Ranchero.

  2. I miss my '76. Had a 460 with 225,000 on the clock when I let it go.

    1. My dad had a 76 Ranchero. My sisters and I spent a lot of time riding around in the back. I loved that car.

  3. Always preferred the El Camino but that’s a great looking vehicle 👍🏻

    1. Correct. I had a 71 Torino 500, same grille. Paid $80 for it 1982. 10 years, several drivers, just tires and brakes. Miss it.

  5. 1971 was the last year for real engine performance until the 00's. You could have ordered a 429 Super Cobra Jet. Ford claimed 370 horses. Dyno runs show 500 hp. Easily increased from that with a few bolt-on parts. Stock, mine got about 5mpg in town, and 10 or so freeway, in my Mustang.
My '66 Ranchero got around 15-18 freeway with just a 302 and a 500 Holley two barrel. Wish I hadn't sold it, about '78.
