A Good Thing To Have

  1. Yes, but I bet that most people running around with them don't know how to use it.

  2. What Rat Bastard said.
Lots of 'em on Jeeps as a status thing, but few have any idea how to use 'em.
I've had a chinse knock off for 20 years, I use it about 5 or six times a year and it always works well for either h=jacking, pulling, or pushing.

  3. Used mine one morning after sleeping in a swamp one night after breaking my winch line....I tied the broken line into knots and used as shown in picture above, it was pouring rain, miserable but I eventually got the rig out.....the jack needed to be rebuilt after that. Yes, the 'status' thing....it's a joke. The knock off works just as well!

  4. Dangerous as hell, though, especially when smaller people are jacking down. I've seen a feller launched once, funny as hell but it could vewry easily have been a broken face. You have to learn how to use it before taking on challenging applications.

    1. And don't release the handle in the up position, when in 'down' mode under load. I almost lost the fingers on my left hand as an adolescent. The jack ratchets down one notch, and the handle comes back up like a guillotine.

Like, for those whose Nick isn't already, Stumpy.

    1. The green vehicle is serving as the anchor to jack out the stuck vehicle sporting the yellow snatch strap. And yes, I noticed the winch roller fairlead on the bumper of the green vehicle too. Photo Op.

  6. I've a chinesium jack that is still useful. works great in tension not so much in compression. works best when I just need something to smash hell out of whatever is aggravating me. I use aramid rope/strap when possible instead of chains and steel cable which I do use. it's just stronger. 10K chain works great until it breaks. aramid cable has never broke. I keep mine in a lock box because, yes, status stuff gets stolen.

  7. Maybe there's a WARN winch on the front end of the rig, since he's displaying the WARN decal on the back!
