And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I was fortunate enough to man the bridge, while serving on the USS Los Angeles (SSN688), numerous times transiting in and out of Pearl Harbor, among other ports. The most memorable was the transit out of Yokosuka to reach diving depth. Cold day, 8 to 12 foot seas running at full speed. Though I had donned foul weather gear, I was soaked by the time we left the bridge to prepare to submerge. Manning the bridge, or riding the fairwater planes was always an experience
