Very nice for small spaces or just a couple people

  1. I believe you can get a little firebox for it that bolts on & makes it a smoker.

  2. I have the larger version of this to which I added the firebox (which is what this little grill is). With proper charcoal stacking skills and smart use of the intake and outlet vents I am able to easily maintain a temp of right around 225F for a couple hours without having to add anymore fuel. I made brisket 2 weeks ago and pork shoulders (butts) this past week. They turned out perfectly and I only needed to check the heat every 30 minutes or so.

My bbq is about 14 years old and has held up nicely. I spray a light coat of aerosol veggie oil (PAM) over all the external surfaces when hot to season the grill against rust. I bet I can get another decade out of mine easily. Easy mods I discovered online allowed me to make some improvements in air/smoke flow and my results rival those of the professionals.
If you are looking to produce real American BBQ, I can't recommend the Char-Griller highly enough... and the prices are reasonable. Order it through this website so that C.W. can afford to pay his AC bill up there in Redding.

Btw, Cdub, It looks like the Pine Grove-Volcano-Pioneer tri-cities are going to see our FIRST day over 100F this year this coming Saturday. We've been suffering in the lo-mid 80s for a bit now.

  3. Birdchaser, this IS the add on firebox, just repurposed as a small grill. I don't see how another one can be added to this to convert it into a smoker as the vents are different.
