Recovery Gear

  1. About 40 years ago I took 100 ft of 1/2" nylon twisted rope, cut it into thirds and braided them together with big loops on both ends (learning some sailor rope craft). I kept that in my Scout 800. Hook it up, back up and touch bumpers with the stuck vehicle, then take off and get going as fast as possible. As light as that Scout was, I could still snatch out full size pickups up over the axles in mud. With a tight braid that rope would act like a giant, gentle rubber band. Worked every time.
