Teardrops

Some good science going on here.

Your Good News of the Day: Coho salmon population surges in Marin County creeks.

At least 648 coho this winter made their way against the current up meandering, forested Lagunitas Creek and its many tributaries on the northwestern side of Mount Tamalpais, according to a new census by biologists.
The coho run is the largest in the North Bay since the winter of 2006-07 and well above the long-term average of about 500 fish. It’s the sixth-largest run since systematic surveys began in 1996.
The surge of salmon is being credited to habitat restoration efforts for the endangered fish.
The Lagunitas Creek migration is the largest run of wild coho between Humboldt and Monterey counties — most other river systems contain hatchery-raised fish — and one of the most remarkable. The fish swim 33 miles from the ocean into Tomales Bay and through the redwood- and oak-studded San Geronimo Valley, where half their spawning grounds are in developed areas, including the towns of Forest Knolls, Lagunitas, San Geronimo and Woodacre.

My Arkansas stones won't fit in my pocket, but this will. Seems like a good way to keen up an edge out in the field.

Mini-Victorian with views from atop Potrero Hill, asking a cool $998,750

Ok, it is cute.  Ok, it does have a great location and views.  But what about the earthquakes, and the neighbors?  And the swarming Regressive local politicians trying to tax every cent you have into their own pockets?  And the seething pooping typhus infected homeless staring in your front window?

You could easily miss 1056 Carolina Street as you are huffing and puffing your way to the top of Potrero Hill. The small structure is set well back from the street and situated between two larger homes. But behind the white picket fence and a few steps below street level, this turn-of-the-century charmer offers a surprising amount of space and style.

A previous owner has developed the lower level of the home into a private guest suite. It has its own entrance, kitchen, dining area and bedroom, as well as direct access to the large lower level deck and backyard.

There’s also a small deck directly off the upper level kitchen and breakfast area.

There are 1,350 square feet of living space spread fairly evenly over both levels.
If it goes for its asking price of just under $1 million, that would break down to $740 a square foot. But there’s little chance the home will sell at asking. Johnson called the market response to the home “phenomenally positive” and has set an offer date of Wednesday, February 6.

Given the rapid deterioration in our society, might be a good book to study

I was in downtown LA last fall for training for a week. It is grimy, and there are loads of vagrants and lunatics, or what the SJW's/Regressives call homeless.

They really, really need to rethink how they are addressing this problem, or something's going to blow up into a real disaster.
"For months, LA County public health officials have said typhus is mainly hitting the homeless population.
But Deputy City Attorney Liz Greenwood, a veteran prosecutor, tells NBC4 she was diagnosed with typhus in November, after experiencing high fevers and excruciating headaches.
"It felt like somebody was driving railroad stakes through my eyes and out the back of my neck," Greenwood told the I-Team. "Who gets typhus? It's a medieval disease that's caused by trash."

Greenwood believes she contracted typhus from fleas in her office at City Hall East. Fleas often live on rats, which congregate in the many heaps of trash that are visible across the city of LA, and are a breeding ground for typhus.
"There are rats in City Hall and City Hall East," Greenwood added. "There are enormous rats and their tails are as long as their bodies."

Or, it's a modern disease caused by Liberalism/Democrats/Regressives.  In this case, literally regressive, to the Middle Ages.
