Night Rider

  1. Back in the Kosovo brouhaha (‘92?), the Serbs shot down one F117A and so badly damaged another it was scrapped. They used then obsolete radars and missiles to do it. Some 30 plus years later, when Russia and China (and Iran?) all have stealth aircraft and 30 years of radar and sensor development, one wonders just how survivable America’s stealth aircraft are.

Iran just captured an American unmanned robot submersible to add to its trophy case of stealthy US vehicles.

    3. The shootdown occurred because the USAF was predictable. They flew the exact same route every night at the same speed and altitude and the bad guys had eyes on the airfield. They knew exactly when the F117 took off so they knew where it would be X minutes after takeoff. Also the SAM system locked on when the bomb bay was opened so the laser guided bomb could lock onto the designator beam. Complacency will get you every time.
