    It was my understanding that the Viggen had never been deployed into a combat theater during it's entire operational lifespan.
    The most exciting thing the Viggen had ever done was once got a 'lock' on a homeward bound SR-71. Briefly.

  3. There’s an interesting discussion on the term “canard” at the 14 minute mark of this video from Greg’s Airplanes and Automobiles, that it has a dual meaning in French, both a duck and a fraud. The popular theory is that canard was used because the plane looked like a duck, but early French attempts to duplicate the Wright Bros design failed, so some viewed it as fraudulent.
