  1. I have an ancient KitchenAid stand mixer (30+ years) that is still working well. But I see that they have put some limits on dough handling with the new machines. One of my friends, who makes a lot of bread, recently bought an Ankarsrum mixer. He says it really shades the KitchenAid he had....and it has a 7 year warranty. As I often joke with him, it's pretty sad when guys like us are talking about mixers instead of cars, guns and girls. Plus ça change. Eh, that's my French-Canadian side! Steve_in_Ottawa

    1. Looked em up. Holy Kow! They start at $800. Way too rich for my blood. I've read the Kitchenaid now has nylon gears and they strip out easily. And they've cheapened other aspects as well.

Best bet is to find a 30+ year old one at a garage sale.
