  1. It would take a lot of nerve and skill to take that thing up for the first time.

  2. Looks like the success of lawn darts prompted the development of the X-59- just a guess-

  3. By the time the tip of the nose is at its destination YOU will still be waiting for take-off.

  4. not enough room at a commercial airport for gate loading.

  5. Design all wrong. Front end way too long as it will cause issues with landing and takeoff. Redesign the front end. what is in the front end that would require it to be so long?

    1. Air. Lots and lots of air. This was supersonic. Air behaves differently at those speeds.

    2. if they had just called you first, anon 8:01, look at the time and money they could have saved

    3. Supersonic aircraft have long, pointed noses to minimize the shock waves created as they exceed the speed of sound, which reduces drag and prevents excessive turbulence from damaging the airframe. A longer, more slender nose allows designers to shape the shock wave to be less powerful and create a more gradual pressure change, resulting in a quieter "thump" instead of a loud sonic boom.

  6. Low Sonic Boom Technology Demonstrator. The purpose of the nose is shock wave management. It will be flown above Mach 1 over several major population areas in the US and then large scale surveys will be taken to see if people even noticed the sound. The idea is to prove that this aerodynamic design can be used for larger commercial aircraft to restore supersonic commercial flight over the Continental United States. Coming soon to a city near you!
