Someone put their money in the "bank" and forgot to withdraw

 




The upper picture shows an 11th century silver haul found in 2023 during construction of the Sizewell C power station in Suffolk County, United Kingdom. The haul included coins minted in London between 1036 and 1044.

The lower picture shows an 12th century silver haul found in 2025 by a private citizen somewhere in the area of Stockholm, Sweden. Weighing in at some staggering 6 kilos.

  1. In the UK we would just say Suffolk, not Suffolk County. The word County is never used after a county name in the UK.

  3. In New Orleans about 40 years ago, while tearing down the old St Charles hotel, a hoard of coins was uncovered. By the time the "officials" showed up to confiscate them most had disappeared 👊🤛

    1. in Savannah, Georgia in the early 1960's, it was a common enough occurrence when doing renovations to 18th-19th homes. And yes, finds all but disappeared.

  4. That silver from Sweden looks like someone's loot...that kind of fits into my guess as to how I ended up with 5% "Scandinavian" DNA..

  5. Holy cow 13.25 lbs! Amazing such tranches of hidden wealth in one way or another are lost to time, great mysteries too. Lucky dude found them.
