And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I am only an occasional fisherman, but if I understand things, the shoulder is a convenient place to balance/hold the rod&reel while you use both hands to remove the hook from the fish.
I don't have any idea why these people rest their rod on their shoulder in these pictures. Probably the same reason all of these cowgirls are wearing their hats backward-it so cool! I do know that I have fished nearly every weekend for better than half of the year for going on 60 years and I have never, nor have I ever seen anyone fishing with me do that.
So is the fish!
ReplyDeletethe fish is way less than half as nice.
Delete100%
ReplyDeleteWhile I am not a fisherperson, I do not understand why so many people in these photos have their fishing pole resting on their shoulder.

Good eating all around! Fresh rock bass and bearded clam.
ReplyDeleteAs long as the "bearded clam" does not smell or taste like fish, I am good to go.
DeleteI think she's showing that she used fairly light tackle. That fish would be a bit of sport on that rod.
ReplyDeleteThat’s a largemouth bass and a honey holding it.
