And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
We had one of those near our house when I was growing up in the late '60's and early '70's, but ours looked bigger than that. Four stories of slide. Sixty-five steps up (I remember them well). Eight slides down for $5. I'd save up for a month ('allowance' was a buck a week plus additional for washing dishes or mowing the lawn) and talked mom and dad into taking me. You slid down on gunny sacks, then walked up the endless staircase to do it again.
Looks fun to me. I'd ride that.

ReplyDeleteHad one at a Casino (the Showboat) in Vegas back in the Day--Great Ride and Times.
ReplyDeleteI was so small, I could build up enough speed to fly off that third bump. Good times.
