And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Joey Bishop killed as a comedian. Peter Lawford could drink with the rest of them, and was a first class raconteur. And somebody had to cover for Frank and Dean and Sammy between singing sets. And now, bot the hotel and The Pack are all gone.
They used to have a set of mezzanine green rooms at the Coconut Grove in L.A. at the Ambassador Hotel, and they had a peephole window so they could come out and watch the other guys' sets or check on whoever was on, to see when it was time to head down for their turn at bat.
In my little town is a very small bar that is rat pack themed. This picture, along with many others, hangs in there. Would have been a hell of a time to be there.
Entertainers dressed a lot better 65 years ago. Still looks like trouble though.
