  1. T-45. The A-4 sits much higher and does not have a two place cockpit.

    1. TA-4J is a Skyhawk trainer, and it does have tandem seating. However, this is not a TA-4J.

  3. That looks like a fun machine to fly. What did you think of it?

  4. The National Geographic Channel just had an excellent 6-part series: Top Guns: The Next Generation. You can probably find out when/where it will be viewable if you missed it. Here's the trailer video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4KdFr5-21E

    Highly recommended!!!!!

    2. I second what Ohio Guy said about that series. I was very impressed with the quality of the video. I wish they had included a "behind the scenes" episode that showed the filming process.

  6. Goshawks are cute little fellars, watched couple v-clips of them doing carrier practice, very much looks like gads of fun, they cycle pretty quickly, great seeing how the deck crews work, it really is a kind of ballet. Got it down to a real science.

  7. Based on the BAC Hawk I gather. The Harrier started something.

  8. Point Of Order:
The Navy operates 156 surviving T-45s, out of an original training fleet of 189, after 33 crashes (about 1/yr) since initial adoption in 1991.

While all Marine aviators originate out of the Navy aviation training pipeline, the Marines organizationally, per best references, operate exactly zero T-45s, since ever.
So Why in Blistering F*** would anyone paint "Marines" on one? Or did some ding-a-ling just do a crappy Photoshop?
